Book Kutuh Kaja when you are already in Ubud and you want the night to feel like a temple, not a viewpoint. You walk over, look around Pura Dalem, sit close to the chorus, and hear the story in English. People talk about the fire and the chant on the walk home because the setting is a shrine they did not expect in the middle of town.
Book Uluwatu when the point of the evening is the cliff, the sunset, and the scale of that amphitheater. That ticket is not this page. If your week already has a south-coast sunset, do not replace it with Kutuh Kaja and call them the same show. If your week is an Ubud stay, do not drive an hour south for a chorus you can hear in the banjar.
