Want the Kecak inside a living Ubud temple, not the cliff sunset at Uluwatu? This is the Sunday and Tuesday show at Pura Dalem Gede Kutuh Kaja, Jl. Tirta Tawar, Banjar Kutuh Kaja, Petulu, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571. It runs 19:00–20:00. The Sekar booking rate is IDR 100.000 per person, adult or child. Open the pin.
Why this night feels like Ubud
The courtyard sits in the middle of the temple banjar: a sacred Pura Dalem, a local chorus, and a story of Balinese life that most visitors never hear because they only know the Uluwatu name. Come around 18:30 and walk the temple before you sit. The chant, the fire, and the characters happen in that shrine. Guests talk about it on the walk back because the setting is close, quiet, and not a tourist amphitheater.
An English explanation runs with the performance so you can follow the Ramayana — Hanoman, Rama, Sinta, and Ravana — while the Kecak stays the Kecak.
Getting there
Self-meet is free. From central Ubud it is about a 10-minute walk. There is parking for a big car. A private shuttle is IDR 400,000 from Ubud or IDR 650,000 from the south coast, once per booking. The driver waits through the show.
Not the Uluwatu show
Uluwatu is a daily sunset cliff amphitheater. Its show ticket is about IDR 150.000 for adults, and the temple entrance is extra (uluwatutemple.id). This ticket is IDR 100,000, Sunday and Tuesday only, in central Ubud. Full comparison: Ubud Kecak vs Uluwatu.
Cover shoulders and knees. Women who are menstruating are asked not to enter the inner temple space. Book on WhatsApp — no payment to inquire.
